(Monuments are another story.)<a href=\"http:\/\/boston.citysearch.com\/profile\/4728127\" \/><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/boston.citysearch.com\/profile\/4728127\">Bukowski&#8217;s Tavern<\/a> in Boston bucks this trend. I found this gem just a <a href=\"http:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps?hl=en&#038;q=bukowski+boston&#038;ie=UTF8&#038;om=1&#038;sll=37.062500,-95.677068&#038;sspn=23.875000,57.630033&#038;latlng=42358333,-71060278,18105114601293341976\">half-block from my hotel<\/a>, and expecting something mildly disappointing and not worthy of a visit from <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Henry_Chinaski\">Henry Chinaski<\/a>. Boy, was I wrong.<\/p>\n<p>OK, the place really is a dive. I think every scrap of the inside of the place is painted black, and it&#8217;s pretty dark after the sun goes down. However, you aren&#8217;t here to take in the decor. This place is all about the beer. The kegs are local (with a lot of all over New England), microbrews, and fresh, and the staff really takes the time to clean the lines during every keg change. They also have a great selection of bottled beers from all over the world. And don&#8217;t even try to stump the bartender with trivia questions; they&#8217;ll school ya.<\/p>\n<p>If you find yourself in the Back Bay area of Boston with a good book and raging thrist, do what <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Charles_Bukowski\">Charles Bukowski<\/a> would do: Make your way to Bukowski&#8217;s Tavern and order a $3 <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pabst_Blue_Ribbon\">Pabst Blue Ribbon<\/a> draft. Then have a better beer, like a <a href=\"http:\/\/beeradvocate.com\/beer\/profile\/33\/89\">Berkshire Lost Sailor IPA<\/a>. And another.
